The Ferrari 5005WLMi comes with a 9-cell 7800mAh battery standard. The battery lies flush against the back of the laptop. This is quite unusual for a high-capacity Aspire 3000 battery and is certainly testament to Acer's engineering ability. Even with the large battery, Acer only claims a 3.5 hour battery life, most likely due to the high-performance graphics card. There we no battery-related problems encountered during testing.

While netbooks currently represent the real growth in the mobile computing market, it is unclear whether a mini-tablet or smartpad could also catch the public's fancy. However, if you think about the smartpad form factor, it would clearly be even more portable than a netbook BTP-63D1 battery. If the manufacturers get the smartpad interface and functionality right—optimizing it use as a portable media device as well as a rich Internet browsing system—it just might become the next big thing in the mobile market.

ASUS(A42-A6 Battery ) is apparently looking to update its T91 system, which will be made available as the T91MT, boasting multi-touch display, 32GB SSD and a price tag of US$549. There's no release date on this model, but it couldn't be that far away. In addition, there's also some mentioning of the T101P, with an Atom N450 processor, Pine Trail platform and Windows 7 operating system.

Overall, Illuminata analyst Gordon Haff believes, the computing industry really is only beginning now to tackle parallel programming in earnest. If building mature parallel programming tools is a 10-chapter book, Latitude D600 Battery,the industry is only at chapter two right now, he said. But with no other alternative, the book will be written.

"It has to happen," Haff said. "If you look at history of information technology, things that have to happen really do happen."

Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform will support a number of operating systems, including Google's upcoming Chrome OS, Kressin said. Snapdragon-based smartbooks will become available by the fourth quarter, he said.

Qualcomm has said it is working with companies including Toshiba, Compal Communications, Foxconn and High Tech Computer on Snapdragon-based devices. Kressin wouldn't comment on whether those will be smartbooks. Toshiba(Toshiba PA3284U-1BAS battery) has already launched the TG01 handset based on the first-generation Snapdragon platform.

If Apple(17-inch PowerBook G4 battery) should enter this market, I would expect the company to deliver a solution that creatively encompasses all of Apple's rich ecosystem of OS, UI, design, and back-end services and literally define what the smartpad is all about.

Snapdragon, which is already commercially available, includes an Arm-based processor, mobile broadband communications and graphics in one package. The company also plans to start sampling a faster version of Snapdragon in the fourth quarter.
